Lemke Shares Big 12 Honor

Irving, Texas -Nebraska freshman Tom Lemke (Phoenix, Ariz.) was honored Monday, as he shared Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors with Kansas' Brett Bochy in voting by a panel of media covering the conference.

Lemke tossed a three-hit shutout against No. 12 Oklahoma on Sunday, as Nebraska won 10-0 in seven innings. He established career bests in strikeouts (eight) and innings pitched, as he took a no-hitter thru 4.2 innings and handed Oklahoma its first regular-season shutout since 2007. The Phoenix, Ariz. native struck out seven of the first nine Sooners he faced, as he became just the second Husker freshman since 2001 to throw a complete-game shutout.

Lemke is now 4-1 with a 3.33 ERA on the season, ranking 13th in the Big 12 in earned-run average and eighth in opponent batting average (.229).

The Huskers are 12-11 on the season and host North Dakota in a two-game series beginning Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. The game can be heard on selected Husker Sports Network affiliates and on the Internet at Huskers.com. The series wraps up Wednesday at 1:35 p.m.
