Huskers in Fourth at Entrada Classic

St. George, Utah - Led by Mary Kate Bird and JC Stevenson who head into the final round in a tie for 12th, the Nebraska women's golf team sits in fourth-place in a 13-team field after the first day of the BYU at Entrada Classic on Monday.

With Bird and Stevenson producing two-round scores of 151, the Huskers posted a pair of 306's to close the first 36 holes at 612. San Diego State heads into Tuesday's final round with a commanding lead at 591 (295-296), eight strokes in front of second-place Louisville (294-305-599). Colorado State is just seven strokes in front of the Huskers at 612.

Sophomore Kayla Knopik joined Bird and Stevenson in the top 20 through two rounds, posting rounds of 77 and 75 to finish in 17th at 152 on the 6,001-yard, par-72 Entrada at Snow Canyon course. Freshman Erin Sharpee heads into the final round in a tie for 34th at 158 (80-78), while Maddie Sheils is in a tie for 54th (81-84-165).

BYU's Maggie Yuan leads the individual race by three strokes after the first 36 holes with rounds of 64 and 74 to close at 138. Louisville's Daphne Parker sits alone in second place at 141 (72-69).

The Huskers will conclude the two-day tournament on Tuesday with the final round beginning at 9:30 a.m. (central). Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
