Lincoln - Big 12 Conference Player-of-the-Year Kelsey Griffin has been named one of nine national finalists for the 10th Annual V Foundation Comeback Award.
A National Player-of-the-Year candidate, Griffin leads the Big 12 champion Huskers into the postseason with a 30-1 record after a perfect 16-0 Big 12 regular-season mark. The 6-2 senior forward from Eagle River, Alaska, has averaged 20.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.
She has powered the Huskers to the best season in school history one year after missing the 2008-09 season with a foot injury. Poised to become just the second Husker in history to produce 2,000 points and 1,000 career rebounds, Griffin has battled multiple injuries during her five-year career at Nebraska.
The V Foundation Comeback Award is presented each year to men's and women's college basketball players (or teams) across all divisions who triumph over physical or emotional challenges to achieve success. The winner of the award will be announced on ESPN on March 30.
Griffin, who is also one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, is one of the top candidates for the Naismith and Wade trophies and the Wooden Award.
