Big 12 Champions! Wait a minute. That looks so ho-hum. BIG 12 CHAMPIONS!! Another amazing chapter in an unbelievable season was written last Wednesday night when #3 Nebraska faced #11 Oklahoma in Norman. NU knew a win over the Sooners would mean the first conference title since 1988 and the first ever since Nebraska joined the Big 12 Conference. Trailing by one point with 3:29 left, the Huskers went on an 18-1 in the final minutes to extend their conference record season-opening winning streak to 26 games and clinched the Big 12 Regular Season title with the 80-64 victory. NU became just the third North Division team and first since 2000 to sweep all six games against South Division schools. National Player of the Year candidate Kelsey Griffin had a monster game, leading Nebraska with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Fellow senior Cory Montgomery had a season-high 24 points as the two Husker forwards combined for 54 of NU's 80 points. Nebraska now turns their attention to their final two regular season home games. Next up for the Huskers is a rematch with the Missouri Tigers Saturday night.

Missouri has to be the best team that's ever been 1-12 in conference play in any league ever. Five of the Tigers' Big 12 losses have been by five or fewer points, including last Tuesday night's heartbreaking 80-79 defeat in overtime in Columbia to Colorado. In fact, Missouri has played Nebraska closer than any team this season, losing to the Huskers 82-78 two weeks ago at Mizzou Arena.

6-1 senior forward Jessra Johnson leads the team in scoring and is the only Tiger averaging double figures. In fact, Missouri's scoring woes have been especially magnified in games away from Mizzou Arena.. MU is averaging a paltry 49.5 ppg in Big 12 road contests. Johnson averages 12.5 ppg and also leads the team in rebounding (6.2 rpg). She had 21 points in the earlier games against the Huskers this season. Although she came off the bench to post her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Colorado.

5-8 junior guard RaeShara Brown is one of the top defenders in the Big 12 Conference and leads the league in steals. She scored a career high 21 points against Colorado Tuesday night and had 14 points and five steals against the Huskers two weeks ago. Brown also leads MU in assists and is second on the team in scoring (9.8 ppg). 5-11 senior forward Amanda Hanneman leads Mizzou with 49 three-pointers and is third on the team in scoring (9.5 ppg). She scored 11 points and hit three triples in the last game against NU. 6-2 junior forward Shakara Jones had a potential game winning jumper bounce off the rim at the end of overtime Tuesday night against Colorado. She averages 9.3 ppg and 5.5 rpg. 5-6 senior point guard Toy Richbow, along with Jones and Brown, has started every game this season. Richbow has been pressed into duty due to the season-ending knee injury of last year's starting point guard Bekah Mills. Richbow averages 4.2 ppg.

Cindy Stein is in her 12th season as Missouri head coach. She has led Mizzou to three NCAA Tournaments, including the Sweet 16 in 2001.

Nebraska leads the all-time series with Missouri 38-30 and the Huskers have won four of the last five games, including two straight in Lincoln. In the meeting in Columbia on February 13, Nebraska needed a comeback in the final minutes to escape with an 82-78 win. NU's defense forced five turnovers in the final two minutes.
