College Station, Texas - Four Huskers qualified for scoring finals, including two in the "A" finals, on Thursday morning in Session 2 of 7 at the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships. Senior Kaitlin Arntz beat her previous career-best in the 200-yard IM by over two seconds, moving her into second place on the all-time Nebraska list. Mariah Hutchinson also qualified for the "A" finals and Brandie Kavalec qualified for the "B" finals in the 500-yard freestyle, while Ariel Weech qualified for the "B" finals in the 50-yard freestyle.

500 Freestyle
Brandie Kavalec set a career-best time in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:54.48, qualifying her for the "B" finals on Thursday evening. Mariah Hutchinson had the fastest time for the Huskers in the event, finishing with a time of 4:51.81, the 8th-fastest qualifying time in the field (excluding qualifiers from a school's non-scoring "B" team), which puts her in the "A" finals for Thursday evening. Hutchinson's time also made her an NCAA "B"-cut qualifier.

Kaitlin Arntz beat her previous career-best in the 200-yard IM by over two seconds, finishing with a time of 2:00.39, moving her into second place on the all-time Husker list. Arntz had the seventh-fastest qualifying time and secured a spot in the "A" finals on Thursday evening. Arntz's time also places her as an NCAA "B"-cut qualifier. Kelsey Larson and Meredith Matthies also set career-bests in the event.

The Huskers had five swimmers finish with times under 24 seconds, including Kelsey Grushecky (23.94), Hailey Dean (23.85), Hayley Martin (23.80), Jess Andrews (23.78) and Ariel Weech (23.77). Weech,qualified for the "B" finals while Dean, Martin and Andrews each qualified for the "C" finals.
