The Nebraska football team placed 62 players on the 2009 Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office. The honor roll recognizes those student-athletes who achieved a 3.0 or better grade-point average during the fall semester.
The 62 football honorees were among a group of 359 overall Nebraska student-athletes who earned a spot on the Honor Roll.
Leading the way among the football honorees were four players who had perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the fall semester. That group included sophomore safety Austin Cassidy, freshman offensive lineman Jesse Coffey, redshirt freshman linebacker Sean Fisher and linebacker Blake Lawrence.
The list includes 15 football student-athletes who were named to the Honor Roll for at least the fourth time during the career at Nebraska. Heading the list was senior offensive lineman Andy Christensen who made the honor roll for the 10th time, while senior receiver Wes Cammack was named to the list for the ninth time in his career, and senior safety Matt O'Hanlon made the honor roll for a seventh semester.
Five-time honorees include Cassidy, Lawrence, junior defensive end Tyrone Fahie, sophomore tight end Ryan Hill, junior kicker Adi Kunalic, junior offensive lineman Luke Lingenfelter, and sophomore linebacker Jay Martin. Four-time honorees include sophomore linebacker Joey Camarata, junior defensive end Dan Glassman, junior linebacker Thomas Grove, senior linebacker Colton Koehler and junior quarterback Zac Lee.
The newcomers to Nebraska's program also fared well in their first semester on campus, as 25 true freshmen were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
