Want to get a head start on the 2010 college football season? Bid on a Nebraska Football Spring Game Experience Package for four. You and three friends (or family members) will receive:
- Four seats in the Corporate Sideline Seating Area
- The opportunity to take the field right behind the players as they enter during the Tunnel Walk
- Your own Huskers.com video to help you remember that rare experience
- A guided tour of the Tom and Nancy Osborne Athletic Complex
- A private viewing of the new Nebraska Football Experience Room
- A personally signed football by both Pelini and Osborne
"Last season's game experience auctions were quite successful as our winners enjoyed every minute of the opportunity to get an up-close look at the team from the field," said Michael Stephens, Nebraska's Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Licensing and Concessions.
Stephens said the 2010 Spring Game Experience offers an extra benefit because "It's the only time when fans can actually participate in the Tunnel Walk," he said. "That opportunity alone enhances the value of this experience."
Bidding for the four-person experiential auction begins Monday, Feb. 1, at noon and concludes on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 2:45 p.m.
Minimum opening bid for this special package for four is $2,000. Minimum incremental bids are $25.
Wistrom, Osborne Signatures on Commemorative Footballs
The Nebraska Football Spring Game Experience isn't the only auction on Huskers.com, which also has three commemorative footballs up for bids.
More than a month ago in New York City, Nebraska's Grant Wistrom was among 18 players and coaches who were inducted into the 2009 College Football Hall of Fame class by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
Wistrom became the 14th Nebraska player in the College Football Hall of Fame, along with six former Cornhusker coaches, including Tom Osborne, his head coach. Wistrom became the first Nebraska player to join the Hall since 1983 Heisman winner Mike Rozier was inducted in 2006.
Osborne was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999, two years after he retired from coaching following his third national championship in his final five seasons as Nebraska's head coach.
The footballs up for auction were part of the 10th anniversary celebration of one of Osborne's most memorable games - a 42-17 win over Tennessee and Peyton Manning in the Orange Bowl. Three of those footballs were signed by both Osborne and Wistrom for this special Huskers.com auction.
Bidding for each jointly signed football began Thursday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. and continues through Tuesday, Feb. 9, with auctions ending at 2 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively, that day.
Bids begin at $200 for each football with minimum incremental bids of $25.
You can watch Wistrom talk about his College Football Hall of Fame honor when he was interviewed by Huskers.com on the field at Memorial Stadium last fall.
