Caniglia Invited to Breakers Training Camp

Lincoln - Former Husker Anna Caniglia has earned a chance to play at the next level, as she has been invited to the Boston Breakers pre-season training camp in March.

The Omaha, Neb., native was a standout defender and midfielder for Nebraska the past four seasons. Although Caniglia was not selected in the 2010 Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) Draft last week, she will attempt to gain a roster spot via the month-long camp. Caniglia's teammate, Carly Peetz, will also be in camp after she was selected by the Breakers in the sixth round. Former Husker Christine Latham is currently on the Breakers' roster.

At Nebraska, Caniglia started all 79 games of her career, the eighth-most starts in school history. In October, she turned in the 26th hat trick in program history when she scored three goals and added an assist in a 7-4 win at Kansas. She led the Huskers with nine assists in 2009 to go along with five goals.

The WPS is entering its second season this spring and is the top women's soccer league in the United States. The Breakers open their 2010 schedule in April.
