Irving, Texas - Junior Erin Davis was honored as Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. She was recognized for the first time this season and in her career.
Davis was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week after posting a perfect 10.0 on the vault, the first of her career. She is the first Husker to receive a perfect score on the event since 2007. Davis is tied nationally at No. 1 on vault. Her mark led Nebraska to a 195.200 victory against No. 20 Minnesota (193.375) and No. 23 Illinois (192.775). In addition, she also posted a 9.75 on the floor.
Additionally, Missouri's Sarah Shire was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week. She placed second in the all-around competition (39.400), helping Missouri to a 195.625 win over No. 14 Kentucky, No. 16 LSU and Arizona State at the Lady Luck Invitational in Las Vegas. She tied for titles on the bars (9.950) and beam (9.900). Her score on the bars marked a career high and tied the Missouri record for highest all-time score on the event.
