Columbia, Mo. - The Nebraska swimming and diving team wrapped up its weekend at the Missouri Invite on Sunday in Columbia, Mo., with a third place finish. The Huskers accumulated 585 points during the three-day meet, finishing behind Missouri (1,109.5) and Arizona State (839) in the eight-team field.
The Huskers had 26 top-eight finishes on the weekend, including a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke for senior Kaitlin Arntz, who notched a time of 1:03.74. Arntz also had a fifth place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke and a sixth place finish in the 200-yard IM.
Other Huskers with multiple top-eight finishes include Mariah Hutchinson (500 Freestyle, 200 Butterfly), Kelsey Larson (200 IM, 200 Breaststroke) and Hayley Martin (100 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle).
Nebraska's best relay came in the 400-yard freestyle relay, where it finished fourth with a season-best time of 3:27.53. NU placed fifth in the both the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
The Nebraska divers had an excellent weekend as well, combining for eight top-eight finishes. Freshman Amy Herman came in third in both the three meter and platform dives and came in sixth in the one meter, all team bests. Sophomore D'Arcy Schmidt had a pair of sixth-place finishes in the three meter and platform dives.
The Huskers return home on Saturday, Dec. 12, with a meet against South Dakota State. The meet starts at 2 p.m. at the Devaney Natatorium.
