Huskers Enter AP Top 25

Lincoln - The Nebraska women's basketball team entered the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time this season, by claiming the No. 24 spot in Monday's poll.

Nebraska, which improved to 8-0 with a 76-71 road win at previously unbeaten Miami on Saturday, joined the AP Top 25 for the first time since the week of Feb. 18, 2007.

The Huskers earned 131 points in the poll, 49 points ahead of No. 25 Maryland, which also joined the top 25 this week. Nebraska is just 10 points behind No. 23 Kansas, 11 points back of No. 22 California and 12 points behind No. 21 Michigan State.

Nebraska is one of only 11 unbeaten teams in this week's top 25, and one of six Big 12 Conference teams in the rankings. Baylor is ranked No. 6 in this week's poll, while unbeaten Texas A&M is No. 10. Oklahoma is ranked 16th, while Texas is No. 17. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech are also receiving votes in the poll.

Nebraska, which has matched the second-best start in school history by running to an 8-0 record to begin the season, will try to equal the longest winning streak in school history when the Huskers play host to Creighton (5-1) on Wednesday night at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Bluejays are the preseason pick to win the Missouri Valley Conference title, and already own a victory over Nebraska's Big 12 North Division rival Kansas State.
