Griesch's The Word - Dec. 2

Hey Husker Fans,

Obviously I have neglected the Blog Jam over the past couple months while getting ready for basketball season.

Big surprise, the season is not only getting here, it is here and has been here for six regular-season games already. October and November are just crazy fun times of the year.

Now that December is here, I might actually be caught up enough to start focusing entirely on the season at hand, rather than preparing for the season at hand.

If you haven't noticed, the Huskers are 6-0. That's right - 6-0 - for the first time since 1996-97. Not only that, but the Huskers have won all six games by double digits and are averaging around 84 points per game with an average victory margin of almost 30 points per game.

They have been even better at home. Through three regular-season home games at the Devaney Center, the Huskers are averaging nearly 94 points per game and have won by an average of more than 41 points per game.

Those are the kinds of numbers that get you excited about what is happening around Husker women's basketball.

But numbers only tell part of the story. Come out and watch Kelsey Griffin, Cory Montgomery, Yvonne Turner, Dominique Kelley, Lindsey Moore, Kala Kuhlmann, Nicole Neals, Catheryn Redmon, Jessica Periago and the rest of the Huskers take the court Thursday night against South Dakota and you'll probably see what I mean.

The Huskers play hard. And they play hard from the top to the bottom of the lineup and everywhere in between.

In fact, if you look at Nebraska's minutes, about 10 players are knocking on the door of double-figure minutes per game. Freshman Lindsey Moore has played the most minutes - just 25 minutes per game. Nebraska is getting up and down offensively and locking down defensively. They are cleaning up the glass and continue to improve at taking care of the basketball. They are hitting threes at a school-record rate, and most of all, they are playing unselfish basketball at both ends of the court.

Come back soon, and I promise, I'll have some more good stuff for you.

Go Big Red!
