The North is <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska’s. That’s a great thing. What might have been even greater was listening to the coaching staff and players after the win over KansasState. To a man every one of them reiterated that winning the North was not the goal: dominating it was. That doesn’t happen unless you take care of business in Boulder. This team has been one of focus. They’ve never had it challenged as much as it will be this week however. How do you not look ahead to that game against that school that we mustn’t speak of? It will be a challenge for these young kids no question about it. Bo, however, is great at this sort of thing. It’s one of his strengths.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
You want identity? Nebraska’s seemingly found it on offense. A power running game with a fullback and multiple tight ends going right at the defense sprinkled in with play-action passing and a little bit of the bootleg. It’s working. Nebraska has become more efficient by scaling back the offense and playing to their strengths. They are taking care of the football too. Sure Nebraska still hasn’t elevated itself to one of the elite offenses in the country but neither have a lot of the offenses in the SEC. Win with defense and ball control. Nebraska is doing that.
I sure don’t see why Ndamukhong Suh wouldn’t get invited to New York. The expectations for this kid are ridiculous. I had a call this week on Sports Nightly wondering what’s happened to him that he’s not dominating games like earlier in the year. I chuckled, and then ripped off his stat line from last week’s game. 9 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 TFLs, 1 QBH, and 2 passes broken up. Remember he’s not a linebacker or a safety...he’s a DEFENSIVE TACKLE! Those are incredible numbers. Most of this is coming against double teams. He’s the most dominate player in the country and I’m not sure it’s even close.
Have a great Holiday weekend. Husker fans have a lot to be thankful for this week.
