2nd annual Student-Athlete Involvement

The Life Skills department hosted its 2nd annual Student-Athlete Involvement Fair at Memorial Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 27.  The event provided student-athletes an opportunity to learn about ways that they can make a difference in their community by interacting with various charitable organizations from the Lincoln community and UNL campus.

The Involvement Fair, formatted much like a career fair, allowed for casual conversation among groups of athletes and representatives from organizations that offer volunteer opportunities.  The organizations represented a wide range of opportunities that included everything from mentoring young children to aiding the Red Cross.

Through this event, the organizations were able to generate interest in their activities while the Athletic Department, along with its student-athletes, was able to continue its dedication to public service.  As part of the Athletic Department's strategic plan, each Nebraska intercollegiate team must complete at least two team service projects.  Husker student-athletes, year in and year out, are happy to answer the call to serve.  Last year, Nebraska student-athletes combined to volunteer more than 3,000 service hours impacting over 100,000 people.

Thank you Husker student-athletes for your efforts and to the many agencies and organizations for providing meaningful opportunities.
