The Fast Lane - Kansas State Game Preview

Here it is...the game that will decide the North. Sure it hasn’t exactly been the path that you would have predicted to get here. However, Nebraska is here all the same. What a season this has been. Rollercoaster? Maybe so. IowaState wasn’t fun but Oklahoma more than made up for it. What a ride.

Nebraska has one final road block in the way of a trip to Dallas and the Big 12 title game: KansasState and old nemesis Bill Snyder. I really believe that Nebraska has turned a corner in the last couple of weeks. We saw a much more “complete” football team against Kansas. It felt good to get a “team win.” Offensively, people have been asking for this team to find an identity for weeks. They’ve found it now. It’s a two-back set with multiple tight ends and running the football down your throat. It’s play-action passing down the field to a dynamic talent in Niles Paul. It’s sprinkling in “just enough” of the quarterback run game to keep defenses honest. Yes it took longer than maybe Bo Pelini and Shawn Watson wanted it to...but Nebraska has its mojo back.

I think we see a lot of the same tonight. Nebraska won’t get too cute. No reason to. They are the superior football team. They just need to execute at a high level and if they do, we’ll all be in Dallas in early December.

Take a second to truly appreciate everything these seniors have been through today. Guys like Phillip Dillard, Ndamukhong Suh, and Jacob Hickman have been through so much. They have held their heads high through some really difficult times both individually and as a member of the team. Their character and leadership are just a couple of the reasons why Nebraska will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come!
