Opportunities at beating <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Oklahoma are few and far between. When that opportunity presents itself you better take advantage of it. Nebraska did. November 7th will be one of the truly special nights for me in my broadcasting career. Since I’ve worked for the network there have been some good wins. However, this was by far the most special one I’ve been a part of.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

However, I can’t keep from rewinding to the night after the Texas Tech game...to the night after the IowaState game...that sinking feeling in my stomach. I remember being on such a high after that rainy night in Columbia only to be brought back down to earth by those back-to-back losses. Big wins are great, but their importance is diminished if you don’t take care of your business afterward.

How much bigger would the ’78 win over OU be if Nebraska hadn’t lost to Missouri the following week, if Nebraska hadn’t lost to Oklahoma later that same season in the Orange Bowl?

So today Nebraska will try and beat the next team on its schedule: The Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas has struggled losing their last four games. This is a team that many thought would win the North. This is a game that many thought would decide the North. It appears that game will likely come a week later against KansasState. This game is huge however because Nebraska needs to keep the momentum. They have as much if not more than they had coming out of the Missouri game. Stubbing your toe on the road this weekend would halt that momentum and force you to re-group for the Wildcats.

Nebraska gets pressure on Reesing today. That has been the key for the Husker defense all season. It won’t change today. Nebraska wins because they have the best defense in the nation. Also, look for the offense to look greatly improved today. Roy Helu appears to be healthy again --- just in time for the stretch run.
