Nebraska vs. Oklahoma is a big game anytime these two get together, right? <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
If that doesn’t seem to be the case for you this week, your frustration probably can be traced to the Huskers’ recent offensive struggles.
Still, that should be no reason to give up hope for this game or, for that matter, the rest of the season.
Yes, Nebraska has had trouble in recent weeks putting points on the board, and there are several reasons for that, but I won’t go into those reasons at this time.
Instead, let’s focus on the game.
There will be two impressive defenses slugging it out at Memorial Stadium. The Blackshirts have lived up to their reputation the last several weeks. Iowa State only managed seven points on them, and the Baylor offense only tallied three against the Husker ?D’.
Oklahoma, of course, has had to adapt to a new quarterback in Landry Jones as well as to a rebuilt offensive line. Advantage... Nebraska.
The Sooners, we all know, also have played great defense all season. They’ve lost three games by a total of five points, so it will be a difficult night for Cody Green and that Husker offense to establish much against OU.
Bottom line, this game will look like an NFL contest where field position will be crucial, and special teams could turn the game.
I see this as a low-scoring contest where one or two plays will make the difference.
Don’t know about you, but it seems to me that the Huskers are due for a little luck.
Go Big Red!!
