Gleadall Leads Huskers at Heather Farr

Erie, Colo. - Natalie Gleadall fired a one-under-par opening-round 71 to help the Nebraska women's golf team to a third-place standing after the first round at the Heather Farr Memorial at the Colorado National Golf Club on Monday.

Gleadall's opening-round effort on the 6,350-yard layout in Colorado put her in a tie for fourth place, just one shot back of a trio of players who produced rounds of 70, including Minnesota's Michelle Edlin, Texas Tech's Alex Gibson and SMU's Tanya Wadhwa.

The impressive first-round performance by the sophomore from Stratford, Ontario, Canada helped the Huskers to third place in the 20-team field after the opening 18 holes. The Huskers produced a first-round total of 295, just eight shots back of SMU's one-under-par team round of 287, and five strokes behind Texas Tech's 290.

Husker senior Charlotte Wendner added a one-over-par 73 to sit in a seven-way tie for 10th, while fellow senior JC Stevenson was just one shot back at 74 in a four-way tie for 17th. Freshman Erin Sharpee rounded out Nebraska's opening-round scoring with a 77 in a tie for 40th.

Junior Mary Kate Bird added a 79 to tie for 67th after the first round, while sophomore Maddie Sheils notched an 81 while playing as an individual.

The Huskers continued tournament action with the start of the second round on Monday afternoon, but cold and rainy weather conditions prevented the completion of the tournament's second 18 holes. The second round will continue on Tuesday morning, immediately followed by the final round.
