On the approach they’re taking of not pointing fingers
“Never point the finger. That’s how you get separation and start things in the team. Definitely, like Coach (Bo Pelini) said, take care of yourself and as a defensive unit, as a special teams unit, as an offense, we’re just going to take care of our business and move forward from the mistakes we’ve made and the trouble we’ve caused ourselves.”
On if different leaders emerge when a team struggles
“It just depends on the team and the personalities. For me, I’m going to just be myself and keep playing. And that’s the only thing I really know how to do, play harder, try and get turnovers and different things to help our offense out. But other than that, just keep playing hard.”
On if the team’s confidence is shaken
“I don’t think so. The reason why I can say that is because I feel like we’ve realized that we’ve caused a lot of this to ourselves. It’s not something that we’re just outright getting beat and getting killed out there on the field. We’re causing a lot of these problems for ourselves. I don’t think the confidence is shaken at all. It’s just we need to tighten up and take care of business.”
On if the team is handling its October losses better than last season
“I’d say so. Like I said, I can say that because we’ve realized a lot of that’s been our mistakes, not because we’ve been going out there being beat like we have in the past or like how we were last October. Basically, we’ve got to just go out there and keep playing as hard as we can and limit our mistakes. If we don’t have our turnovers, if we get turnovers, it’s a whole different ballgame. If we don’t give up a touchdown on defense as a unit, it’s a whole different ballgame. We won’t be having this conversation.”
On if guys are starting to press
“I don’t think they’re starting to press. I think we have a sense of urgency, understanding the situation that we put ourselves in. Obviously it made it a little bit tougher. We realize what we have to do now. I don’t think people are pressing. You want to play in a relaxed state, and you also want to have a sense of urgency at all times.”
