Four Reasons Why NU-ASU Is A Big Game

The Fast Lane - Iowa State Preview

Well, that wasn’t very much fun. For a week and a half we were able to dream big. We maybe got a little bit ahead of ourselves. Winning masks problems. <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska’s offense was not clicking at the level it needed to be in Columbia but a 4 1/2-minute spurt partially fueled by turnovers allowed us to ignore the first three quarters of that game.

I tend to focus on the positives. I like being positive. However, the realistic point of view should have been that Nebraska was in trouble against Texas Tech unless the got the offense on track quickly. Why? Because you can hold the Red Raiders to 259 yards and still give up 31 points. They are an incredibly efficient offense. Nebraska’s defense played as well as it could have last weekend. They were great. It just wasn’t enough.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

So how does the offense get on track this weekend? It should start with Roy Helu. How healthy is he? 85 percent? 95 percent? 100 percent? Whatever that number is, Roy Helu is a must for this offense. He needs to have a big day against the Cyclones.

What happens at quarterback? My hunch is that Zac Lee gets the nod. Cody Green, however, I believe plays. Whatever the situation at quarterback, I’m not sure that we get it sorted out completely this week. This could be a conversation that we are having for a few weeks.

The Huskers really need to win these next two games. You can’t win the North without them.
