Doc Hoops It Up, Shows His Personality at the Stadium

A basketball coach who's a big football fan took his act from the Devaney Center to Memorial Stadium Saturday, and that little trek just might have won some new fans and influenced some young people.

Doc Sadler invites fans to join him on Twitter, so it wasn't surprising to see him reach out and touch everyone who happened to be within a handshake or an earshot Saturday.

"There's a head coach who will talk to anyone and everyone," one fan said as he watched Sadler work the Husker Nation Pavilion crowd like he was running for political office.

Young, old and everyone in between, it didn't matter to Sadler. The good Doc has an outgoing personality, and he made sure that he and his basketball team hooped it up and had some fun.

Sadler, whose team had its first practice on Friday night, asked his players to introduce themselves because they have so many new faces that fans might not recognize them.

"I love Nebraska football, and I love this whole atmosphere," Sadler said later on the sideline. "I hope the fans had as much fun with us today as we did with them."
