Well, the respect has finally been given. Now it’s up to this young team to keep it. After <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska’s fourth quarter domination last Thursday night the Huskers were greeted with national pundits praising their efforts and ability. Suddenly Nebraska has become one of the “it” teams in college football again. For some of you this is one of those “finally” moments. For many others this is a bit scary.
Think long and hard about the last time Nebraska played in a huge game (like this one against Texas Tech is) and were the overwhelming favorites (judging by the media this seems to be the case)? It isn’t an easy question to answer. This is territory Nebraska hasn’t been in since 2001. It’s a little nerve-racking. I have been asking myself, “is this for real?” It’s the first time I’ve legitimately felt like Nebraska was “back” in quite some time. <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
So you have to back up the Missouri win with another quality win. Here comes the top offensive unit in the conference and maybe in the country to square off against the most popular player in America ? Ndamukhong Suh.
Can Nebraska slow Texas Tech down? If they do ? or if they even completely shut them down ? look for the “Suh for Heisman” campaign to grow even bigger than it already has become.
If Nebraska grounds Air Leach, then a defensive lineman may actually be able to win college football’s most prestigious award after all.
