Werth Honored by Big 12

Freshman Hannah Werth was honored by the Big 12 as the league’s Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot-1 outside hitter averaged 2.75 kills and 2.62 digs per set in a pair of matches last week.

Werth collected her fourth double-double of the year at Texas A&M on Wednesday with 12 digs and 11 kills along with two blocks. Against No. 2 Texas on Saturday, Werth tallied 11 kills, nine digs and a service ace. It is her second Big 12 weekly honor this season.

This season, Werth is averaging 2.63 kills and 2.88 digs per set, ranking second on the team in both kills and digs per set.  Werth leads all Big 12 freshmen in kills per set and is third (first among non-liberos) in digs per set.

The 10th-ranked Huskers return to action Wednesday night, as they travel to Oklahoma. First serve is set for 6 p.m. and the match will be carried on the Husker Sports Network and on Huskers.com. In addition, it will also be televised nationally on ESPNU.
