Hello Husker Fans,
It has been way too long since I posted anything on our blog. I have finally entrenched myself in women's basketball media guide work and I know some of you would love the nuggets I am finding on our opponents and the league in general. I'm going to save those for future blogs, but I thought I would give you all some insights on the Huskers.
I know many of you, including Coach Yori, have been concerned with our team's health throughout the summer. Primarily, the status of Kelsey Griffin. In fact, I noticed a message board post or two that said Kelsey was going to be out for the season.
I have good news to report - Kelsey is playing pickup and going pretty much full speed right now. Nikki Bober is also making her way back toward 100 percent and has continued to show the classic Bober attitude. Layne Reeves is looking good after her knee surgery last year, and Vonnie Turner has a bounce in her step and says her shoulder feels great.
In fact, Vonnie told me yesterday she couldn't wait for the season to start for real. She actually said she wished it started today. That's what I like to hear.
We took some team photos yesterday over at the Devaney Center and the players were in classic form. It looked to me like Lindsey Moore wanted a ball in her hands the entire time. That spells point guard to me. The team seems to be developing a confidence about themselves that I really like to see this time of year. I like it even more in February.
I'm going to get back to the media guide now. I'll have those nuggets for you all in the next few days to help get you ready for the season.
We are one month away from the official start of fall practice. Everybody on the line!
Go Big Red!
