Huskers Complete Strong Television Schedule

Lincoln --- The Nebraska men’s basketball team finalized its 2009-10 television schedule on Thursday, as it announced an additional national telecast along with eight more games set to be seen on Fox Sports Midwest to complete the Huskers’ outstanding slate of TV games. Adding in Nebraska’s league contests televised under the Big 12 contract with ESPN, fans will see at least 21 Husker games on television this winter.

“We have a strong schedule both in the non-conference and especially in the Big 12 this year, so we’re excited to work with our television partners to bring a lineup of quality games to our fans,” said Executive Associate A.D. Marc Boehm. “This may be the deepest the conference has ever been, and our fans will benefit from this TV package with 15 league games televised around the state and across the country.”

The Huskers’ agreement with Fox Sports Midwest will allow Nebraska to be seen four times in non-conference play, along with providing four more league games on television. The Huskers start their TV schedule on the road when they head to St. Louis to take on the Saint Louis Billikens on Nov. 18. The mid-week contest will tip off at 7 p.m. and will be one of three road games Husker fans can view on Fox Sports Midwest.

Nebraska will also have home games televised for matchups with UMKC on Nov. 24, Chicago State on Dec. 10 and Oregon State on Dec. 12 before getting into conference play. The league slate on Fox Sports Midwest starts on Jan. 16 when the Huskers play host to Iowa State and potential NBA top-10 pick Craig Brackins, and is followed by a pair of road contests at Kansas State (Feb. 17) and Iowa State (Feb. 24). NU’s final game on the network will be March 2 for Senior Night at the Devaney Center when the Huskers play host to Colorado.

The Huskers also picked up another national telecast as FSN will carry the Nebraska contest at USC on Nov. 29. The game is part of the Big 12 / Pac-10 Challenge. USC will return the trip to Lincoln the following season.

Returning for his sixth season calling the action for Husker telecasts on Fox Sports Midwest will be veteran broadcaster Greg Sharpe. A two-time Kansas Sportscaster of the Year while covering the Kansas State Wildcats from 1996 to 2002, Sharpe has also been the radio voice of the Huskers since late in the 2007 football season. For the second straight season, Sharpe will be joined in the telecast booth by former Husker and 13-year NBA veteran Eric Piatkowski, who will be in his second year serving as color analyst.

For the third straight season, games telecast on Fox Sports Midwest will have a chance to be seen around the country as an agreement with ESPN may allow for the games’ inclusion on its FullCourt package. Games included in this agreement will be dependent on availability of space on the FullCourt channels and will be announced at a later date.
