Huskers Gear Up for Florida Atlantic

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska football team continued to gear up for its season opener against Florida Atlantic with a two-and-a-half hour practice Monday at the Ed and Joyanne Practice Fields north of Memorial Stadium.

"Practice was okay," Coach Bo Pelini said. "We have some things we need to get fixed, like some of the details and the game plan. We had a good, hard practice and have to get things fixed."

Pelini also discussed Nebraska's defensive game-plan against FAU's quarterback, Rusty Smith, and the rest of the Owl offense.

"They protect okay," Pelini said. "They have some different protections. We're going to mix it up. We're not going to let that dictate what we do. We're going to play our game. You're going to see a little bit of everything from us."

While the depth chart for this weekend's game will not be released until later in the week, Pelini did mention the Nebraska captains would be announced on a game-by-game basis.

"The depth chart changes every day," Pelini said. "The competition is on every day. We rep a lot of guys and we're going to see who's out there. We'll see how it plays out by the end of the week. Whoever earns the job, that's who's going to be in there when the game starts."

The Huskers will continue to prepare for its season against the Owls with another practice Tuesday afternoon in Lincoln.
