The Nebraska football team continued fall practice on Monday with a two-hour workout on the Ed and Joyanne Gass practice fields northeast of Memorial Stadium. The Huskers welcomed players who were not on the 105-man roster to the practice field as today marked the first day the full roster could participate in practice.
The Cornhuskers practiced in full pads as they prepare for their season opener against Sun Belt conference foe Florida Atlantic on Sept. 5. Head coach Bo Pelini said his team came out with good intensity after having Sunday off.
"We had a day off yesterday, just a had a little shakeout run yesterday," Pelini said. "We had some good work today. Got a lot done."
With the start of classes on Monday, the players are faced with many different challenges of trying to balance school and football, but Pelini said his team responded well today.
"Normally you come out the first day of school and it's not a real good practice," Pelini said. "They came out with real good energy today. With everything else they had going on, it was fine. Like I said, we got a lot accomplished today."
With less than two weeks until the season opener, Pelini said after Monday's practice that he is starting to see more consistency out of his players.
"We're better. We're a little further ahead of where we were two weeks ago. Once again, we're not where we want to be yet."
The Huskers are scheduled to practice again tomorrow afternoon. Check back to Huskers.com for more updates on the Nebraska football team from fall practice.
