Lincoln - The Nebraska football team continued fall practice on Thursday, completing its sixth workout of preseason camp. The Huskers practiced in full pads for the second consecutive day at the Ed and Joyanne Gass grass practice field northeast of Memorial Stadium.
After redshirt freshman quarterback Kody Spano's knee injury earlier this week, Coach Shawn Watson discussed the level of competition between the remaining quarterbacks for No. 2 spot behind Zac Lee.
"They're battling," Watson said. "Those kids have been battling from day one. They're still in the learning process. They're pretty even right now if that's what you're looking for. It's a process. By no stretch of the imagination are we ready to name a second guy or anything like that."
Watson also addressed the level of intensity in Nebraska's second day in full pads.
"The intensity is always good," Watson said. "The kids are doing a good job. They're working hard, so there's been no dropoff in intensity. They know we have a lot of work to do so they're working hard."
Nebraska will hold its first two-a-day practice session of the preseason on Friday. NU is scheduled to hold a total of four two-a-days during fall camp.
