Tenopir, Papuchis to Speak at Walk-On Club Events in Hastings, Lincoln

A longtime former Nebraska offensive line coach and a second-year Husker assistant football coach will be the first two featured speakers at 2009 Nebraska Walk-On Club events.

Former coach Milt Tenopir is the headliner for an Aug. 20 Preseason Football Kickoff Celebration at Lochland Country Club in Hastings, and Husker defensive ends coach John Papuchis will be the guest speaker at the 2009 season's first Walk-On Club Luncheon at Lincoln Station on Thursday, Aug. 27.

The event in Hastings is a "bring a friend and kick off the season" free function that will feature Tenopir, former Nebraska players and fellow Husker fans. Social time begins at 5:30 p.m., and a short program will begin at 6 p.m.

The registration deadline for the luncheon featuring Papuchis is Aug. 21. Seats at the luncheon cost $20 each, or a table of eight can be reserved for $160.

Two other dates also have been set for Walk-On Club Luncheons this fall - Oct. 1 and Dec. 10. Guest speakers will be announced later for both events.

Fans can reserve a table of eight for all three luncheons for $450 - a $30 discount. Reservations can be made by printing off the attached form and mailing it in with payment, or by calling the Athletic Development Office at (402) 472-2367 or 800-8-BIG RED.

The luncheons are a great opportunity to help support the Nebraska football team, hear about the walk-on experience from former walk-ons themselves, and get the latest updates on the season from members of the Husker football staff.

All three 2009 luncheons will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Lincoln Station at 7th and P Streets in downtown Lincoln.
