Lincoln - Nebraska fans can buy their women's basketball tickets earlier than ever before with special Tip-Off Ticket pricing for the 2009-10 season beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The Tip-Off Ticket special will run from Aug. 5 through Sept. 11, with fans receiving $1 off per ticket for any Husker home game, including the Wednesday, Dec. 9 in-state clash with Creighton at the Devaney Center and a Big 12/SEC showdown with perennial national power LSU on Sunday, Dec. 20.
Creighton will be one of the favorites to win the 2010 Missouri Valley Conference title, while LSU has advanced to the NCAA Women's Final Four in five of the past six seasons and returns five starters from last year's squad.
Nebraska, which has earned six consecutive postseason trips, will feature the largest senior class in school history with six players in 2009-10. The experienced Huskers will bring a 16-game regular-season home schedule to the Devaney Center, along with a pair of home exhibition contests for an exciting 18-game schedule. In addition to eight regular-season non-conference games, Nebraska fans will be treated to the best women's basketball in the nation on a nightly basis during the eight-game Big 12 Conference campaign.
The past two seasons, the Big 12 has owned the best conference-wide RPI in the nation, while the league has led the nation in conference attendance for 10 consecutive years.
At their regular prices, Nebraska women's basketball tickets offer arguably the best value in Husker sports. With the $1 Tip-Off Ticket pricing, fans can purchase single-game tickets for $2, $4 or $6 per game. Reserved B and C Level chairback seats for women's basketball can be purchased for just $6 for any game this season with the Tip-Off price, while adult general admission seats are just $4. Youth and senior citizen general admission tickets are just $2.
Fans who want to take full advantage of the offer can also purchase season tickets, with B and C Level reserved seats available for just $108, covering NU's entire 18-game schedule. Nebraska faculty and staff can purchase B and C Level tickets for just $90, while adult general admission season tickets are just $72 per person. Youth and seniors can get their GA season tickets for just $36, while University of Nebraska student and children 6 and under will be admitted free.
Fans can begin buying their women's basketball tickets on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 8 a.m. on Huskers.com or by calling 1-800-8BIGRED. The special pricing will continue until Friday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m. After that, fans will be able to purchase tickets at their regular prices.
Led by two-time first-team All-Big 12 forward Kelsey Griffin (Eagle River, Alaska), two-time Big 12 Defensive Team selection Yvonne Turner (Omaha, Neb.) and honorable-mention All-Big 12 forward Cory Montgomery (Cannon Falls, Minn.), the Huskers return six starters for the 2009-10 season. In addition to the returning senior starters, junior guard Dominique Kelley (Lincoln, Neb.) has started 64 straight games to open her career, while fellow juniors Kaitlyn Burke (North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and Catheryn Redmon (Grand Prairie, Texas) will bolster a talented and experienced Nebraska roster. Parade High School All-American Lindsey Moore is also gearing up for her Big Red debut this season.
Nebraska, which has faced one of the nation's top-25 schedules in each of the past two seasons, will tip-off exhibition play against Pittsburg State on Tuesday, Nov. 3, before taking on Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday, Nov. 8 in its final exhibition tune-up. The Huskers open the regular season against Davidson on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:05 p.m.
After home games against Idaho State (Nov. 19), Washington State (Nov. 22) and South Dakota (Dec. 3), the Huskers will challenge in-state rival Creighton on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 7:05 p.m. at the Devaney Center.
Following a Dec. 13 home clash with Northern Illinois, the Huskers will face their featured home foe of the 2009 non-conference season when they take on SEC power LSU. The Lady Tigers, led by Naismith Hall of Fame Head Coach Van Chancellor, advanced to the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament with a starting lineup filled with freshmen a year ago. LSU returns five starters in a wide-open SEC race this season.
The Huskers close non-conference home action against Albany (Dec. 30), before tipping off Big 12 play against perennial power Texas on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Nebraska's conference home schedule features five 2009 postseason teams in the first five games, starting with UT before a Jan. 23 home date with 2009 NCAA Tournament qualifier Kansas State. The Huskers then battle Oklahoma State (Feb. 3), before tackling 2009 NCAA Sweet 16 participant Texas A&M (Feb. 6). NU closes the stretch by colliding with 2009 NCAA Elite Eight qualifier Iowa State on Wednesday, Feb. 17, before home challenges against Colorado (Feb. 20) and Missouri (Feb. 27).
Nebraska's senior class will be honored on Senior Night against Kansas on Wednesday, March 3. The Huskers and Jayhawks will feature the two largest senior classes in the Big 12 this season, with both squads featuring six seniors. KU advanced to the 2009 WNIT championship game a year ago.
