Welcome to the debut of the Husker Blog Jam on Huskers.com. My man Matt Coatney and I have discussed this blog for quite a while, and we're hoping it gives Husker fans a great way to stay informed about all the great things happening around the Nebraska women's basketball program.

Nebraska released its 2009-10 non-conference schedule on Thursday, July 9, and it should provide plenty of excitement with 16 regular-season home games at the Devaney Center and with some great non-conference road trips. I would encourage all of you to check into season tickets now. If the Huskers are healthy, they are going to have the talent and experience to contend with anybody.

The Huskers got some great schedule coverage in the media yesterday, with a major article in the Lincoln Journal Star. Local Lincoln TV anchors Kevin Sjuts (KOLN/KGIN Coverage) and Dave Hunt (KLKN Coverage) both made quick trips to the Devaney Center to talk to Coach Connie Yori and Kelsey Griffin.

It's amazing that those interviews worked out. Coach Yori was in Lincoln for about a three-hour window yesterday in between recruiting trips. Kelsey hasn't done many interviews for the past year while she has been recovering from her foot injury, but she was great on camera (as usual) yesterday. The last few hours of Day Camp were also going on, so there were a large number of Kelsey's young fans who wanted to be a part of one of the TV interviews.

It was also good to see Kelsey without anything strapped to her foot. Nikki Bober was hanging around the Devaney Center yesterday afternoon and moving well without anything covering her knee that was injured in late-December, and former Husker and WNBA player Danielle Page was also in the house.

When Kelsey, Bober and D are in the same place, there is bound to be something outrageous happening. I was just happy to make it out of the Devaney Center unscathed yesterday.
