Women's Tennis Lands Top German Recruit

The Nebraska women’s tennis team secured a commitment from one of the top players in Germany this week as Janine Weinreich of Tespe, Germany, has joined the Husker program. Weinreich will be in Lincoln in time for the Spring 2010 season.

Weinreich is the 94th-ranked player in the women’s division in Germany. She is the second top-100 German player to commit to the Huskers this year, as Stefanie Weinstein, ranked No. 48 in Germany, is also heading to Lincoln.

"Janine is a tremendous talent on the court and in addition is a wonderful young lady," Head Coach Scott Jacobson said. "We are truly honored by her decision to join our Husker family as she will have an immediate impact on our program."

Weinreich is set to join the Huskers in January 2010, in time for the spring dual season. She is the third commitment the coaching staff has landed this year, joining Weinstein and Chelsea Finnegan, younger sister of former Husker Ashley Finnegan.
