Twenty members of the Nebraska swimming and diving team were named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring 2009 Honor Roll on Monday, June 15, awarded to student-athletes who post a grade-point-average of 3.0 or better during the semester.
All five Nebraska seniors ? C.J. Bray (4th time on honor roll), Courtney Jolly (9th), Jenna Stroud (5th), Jenny Toler (7th) and Christina Yemm (8th) ? were all named to the Honor Roll, while Jolly and Yemm achieved the highest honors by posting a 4.0 GPA for the semester.
Five juniors were also named to the Honor Roll, including Kaitlin Arntz and Sarah Ziegelmann. It was the sixth time being named to the list for both swimmers, and both of them earned 4.0 GPAs for the semester as well.
Seven sophomores and three freshmen round out the list of 20, which ties the mark the swimming and diving team had on the Fall 2008 Honor Roll.
A total of 302 Nebraska student-athletes earned a spot on the Spring 2009 Honor Roll, including 52 who posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Nebraska’s representation on the spring honor roll marked a nearly 12 percent increase over last spring, when 270 Huskers earned honor roll spots. Along with the 32 additional members of this year’s spring honor roll, 16 more Huskers posted 4.0 GPAs compared to last spring.
