Lincoln-The Husker women’s soccer team recently completed its 2009 fall schedule, which will feature 11 home contests at the Nebraska Soccer Field, including several key matches against Big 12 foes. Nebraska will battle six schools that qualified for the 2008 NCAA Championship.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Nebraska faces Colorado College in an exhibition game on Aug. 18, before kicking off the regular season on the road against Northern Colorado on Aug. 22. The Huskers’ first three games are on the road, as Nebraska travels to the Villanova Classic to take on Lehigh on Aug. 28 and the host Wildcats on Aug. 30.
NU opens the home slate with a Sept. 4 match against Lamar, before hosting the adidas Husker Classic on Sept. 11 and 13. Nebraska and Creighton will each face North Dakota and Akron on the separate days. The Huskers wrap up the home stand against South Dakota (9/18) and Arizona State (9/20).
The Huskers will look for their 14th consecutive win in Big 12 openers when they travel to Boulder to play Colorado on Sept. 25, while continuing the road swing against Texas Tech two days later. Nebraska returns home for four games, including three against conference opponents. The Huskers battle last year’s regular-season Big 12 champion Oklahoma State on Oct. 4, and seek revenge for a road loss against Baylor on Oct. 9. The home stand also includes dates against Green Bay (10/2) and Oklahoma (10/11).
NU begins a critical stretch in conference play with a trip to Texas on Oct. 16, before hosting Texas A&M on Oct. 18. Road trips to Kansas and Missouri will test Nebraska on Oct. 23 and 25, before the Huskers host Iowa State on Oct. 30 to end the regular season.
Postseason play begins with the Big 12 Championship on Nov. 4, while the first round of the 2009 NCAA Championship starts on Nov. 13. Texas A&M will host this fall’s College Cup in College Station, Texas, on Dec. 4-6.
NU concluded the 2008 season with a 10-9-1 mark, including 6-4 in the Big 12. The Huskers bounced back from a 0-4 start to post an eight-game undefeated streak and qualify for the conference tournament.
