The Nebraska softball team has earned the No. 5 seed for the 2009 Big 12 Championship this weekend in Oklahoma City. The Huskers will face fourth-seeded Texas on Saturday at 2 p.m.
NU finished fifth in the final Big 12 Conference standings with a 9-9 league record. Texas finished in a tie for third with an 11-7 record, but the Longhorns fell to the No. 4 seed after losing the head-to-head tiebreaker with third-seeded Baylor. Fans will be able to follow all of the action from Oklahoma City, beginning on Friday. The All-Big 12 and conference player-of-the-year awards will be presented on Friday and fans can watch the ceremony live for free on big12sports.com. Nebraska's first-round matchup with Texas can be heard live for free on Huskers.com, with Nate Rohr calling all of the action for the Husker Sports Network. Should the Huskers win on Saturday afternoon, they would advance to the 7:30 p.m. semifinal, which would be streamed live on big12sports.com.

Nebraska finished as the runner-up in last year's Big 12 Championship. The Huskers are 33-17 all-time at the event and Nebraska has made a league-high seven appearances in the championship game. NU has won three titles and finished as the runner-up four times.
