Crick Captures Branson Creek Title

Hollister, Mo. - Nebraska junior Brandon Crick took home the Branson Creek Invitational title on Tuesday after a second-round 73 gave him a 36-hole total of 147, good for a one stroke victory over Kyle Peterman of Western Illinois and Dylan Raines of Arkansas-Little Rock.

Nebraska finished tied for fifth in the team standings with a score of 623. The Huskers as a team improved 23 strokes from their first round to their second round in jumping from 12th place into the top half of the field.

Crick, who entered the day tied for third, became the first Husker to win an individual title since Brady Schnell won the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Oct. 31, 2006. But the win marked the third career title for Crick, who won two tournaments at Gonzaga during his freshman and sophomore seasons.

"It felt good. I've kind of struggled all season," Crick said. "To get a win finally, it was good."

The McCook native birdied the 18th hole to secure the lead for good.

"It was one of the harder holes," Crick said. "I hit an approach shot to within about five feet and then made the putt."

Among other Huskers, Andrew Wyatt tied for 28th at 157. Chris Bruening rebounded from an opening round 85 to post a 73 in the second round and tie for 34th. Scott Willman tied for 49th at 161 and Austin Zimmerman tied for 65th with a 175. Mike Coatman, competing as an individual, tied for 20th with a 155.

Only 36 holes were played because of inclement weather. The first 27 were played on Monday and the final nine wrapped up on Tuesday.

Nebraska is back in action April 13-14 at The Palisades Collegiate Golf Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
