Huskers Begin Week Three of Spring Practice

Lincoln--- The Nebraska football team took advantage of 60 degree plus weather today when they practiced for a little over 2 ? hours in preparation for the annual Red-White Spring Game on April 18.  The Huskers took the Ed and Joyanne Gass practice fields in full pads as they enter the third week of spring practice.  Head coach Bo Pelini said his team has a lot to work on before the end of spring practice.

“You can go right down the board,” Pelini said.  “We need to get better as a football team. We didn’t play well and we didn’t practice well, not everybody, but we’re not getting it collectively like I would like to see.”

One of the deepest positions for the Huskers this spring is the offensive line.  With the type of depth they have, the Huskers coaches can utilize several different players at different positions.  One move the Husker coaches are experimenting with is moving center Jacob Hickman to right guard.

“He’s playing a little bit of guard,” Pelini said. “He’s still playing some center.  We’re just moving guys around to try and get the best combination.”

The Huskers will continue spring workouts with practice scheduled for Friday. Reserved tickets for the April 18 Red-White Spring Game remain available through Huskers.com or by calling the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-8-BIG-RED. Tickets are $10 each. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets no later than Friday, April 10 so that they can receive the tickets in the mail and avoid potentially long will-call lines on game day. Kickoff for the Red-White Spring game is at 1 p.m.
