Huskers Set to Play Final Two Home Matches
The Nebraska women’s tennis team has a busy week ahead of it, as it has three matches on the schedule, including its final two home matches of the season. The Huskers travel to No. 42 Tulsa on Wednesday for a mid-week match before returning home for the weekend to take on a pair of Big 12 opponents. Nebraska will play OklahomaState on Friday, April 3 (4p.m.), and Oklahoma on Sunday, April 5 (11 a.m.).
NU is looking to reach double-digit home victories for the fifth time in six years this weekend. The Huskers are currently sitting at nine home wins, as they lost their first two home matches of the season last weekend in a pair of closely-fought matches against Texas A&M and Texas. The Huskers lost to the Aggies 5-2, then nearly upset the Longhorns the next day, falling just short and losing 4-3. The two losses moved the Huskers to 10-4 on the year, including a 2-3 mark in the Big 12.
Nebraska will face off with Tulsa for the first time in over 10 years, as the last meeting between the two schools was during the 1998 spring campaign, where the Huskers came away with a 6-3 victory. Tulsa senior Thalia Diaz-Barriga has 20 singles wins on the season for the 19-4 Golden Hurricane, who have won three straight matches and six of their last seven overall.
Oklahoma State comes into Lincoln having lost four of its last five matches, although all of them have been close losses, by scores of either 5-2 or 4-3. Oklahoma has also lost four of its last five matches, but is coming off a win over KansasState last Sunday, its first conference win of the season.
