Huskers 11th at Desert Shootout

Goodyear, Ariz. - The Nebraska men's golf team is in 11th place at the 14-team Desert Shootout after round one at Palm Valley Golf Course. The Huskers shot an 18-hole total of 290 and sit 19 strokes behind the host and leader, Denver.

Mike Coatman and Scott Willman led NU on day one. Both shot 1-under-par 71 and are tied for 30th. Brandon Crick and Andrew Wyatt are tied for 57th after each carded a 74. Austin Zimmerman, playing in his first tournament of the spring, recorded a 76 and is tied for 74th.

Mark Pillen, also seeing his first action of the spring, shot a 71 and ended the day tied for 30th with Coatman and Willman. Unfortunately for NU, Pillen is competing as an individual and does not count toward the team score.

Round two will be played Friday and the tournament will conclude on Saturday.
