Two Huskers Earn All-America Honors

The Nebraska rifle team picked up two All-America honors this week. Amanda Jeffries was named a first-team All-American in air rifle, and Ryann McGough earned honorable mention in smallbore.

The award marks Jeffries' first career appearance on the first-team list. Last year, Jeffries was a second-team All-American in air rifle. The junior from Norman, Okla., held a team-best 586.08 average in air rifle this season, to go along with the two air rifle individual titles she captured.

McGough makes her first appearance on an All-America list. A sophomore from LaPorte, Colo., McGough averaged a team-leading 573.46 in smallbore and won four individual smallbore titles this season, including one against the eventual national champion, West Virginia.

All-Americans are selected based on high season averages and good academic standing.

"I am very proud of both girls and it shows how hard they have worked this year," Head Coach Morgan Hicks said. "I know that these two will continue to improve and hopefully next season they will be able to inspire the team, and we will have more All-Americans."
