NFL Hopefuls Work Out for Scouts

Nineteen former Husker football players showcased their physical ability and football skills for NFL scouts on Thursday afternoon at Nebraska's Pro Day at the Hawks Championship Center.

The event attracted scouts and team representatives of 18 National Football League organizations. Among those working out were 17 seniors from the 2008 Huskers and two members of Nebraska's 2007 senior class.

Among the players taking part in the Pro Day workouts were six Huskers who participated in the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis last month, including offensive linemen Lydon Murtha and Matt Slauson, running back Marlon Lucky, receiver Nate Swift, defensive end Zach Potter and linebacker Cody Glenn.

Several other 2008 Huskers got their first opportunity to impress NFL scouts, including quarterback Joe Ganz, fullback Thomas Lawson, receiver Todd Peterson, tight end Hunter Teafatiller, defensive linemen Shukree Barfield and Ty Steinkuhler, linebacker Tyler Wortman, cornerback Armando Murillo, long snappers T.J. O'Leary and Justin Baumgartner and punter Dan Titchener. Former Huskres Lance Brandenburgh and Terrence Nunn also worked out at the event.

The players were tested in the 40-yard dash, shuttle run, 3-cone drill, vertical jump and bench press, and the majority of players also participated in position-specific drills. The National Football League will holds its draft on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26.
