Husker Runners Excel in the Classroom

Lincoln ? On Thursday, March 5, the USTFCCCA released its men’s and women’s all-academic teams, with both Husker programs be named. The Husker women were one of a record 160 teams to receive the honor, while the men’s team was one of a record 110 teams to earn the accomplishment. <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

The Husker women finished third at both the Big 12 Championships and Midwest Regional, while making their first trip to the NCAA Championships since 2003. In the classroom, the team combined for a GPA of 3.664, ranking them sixth among the 160 teams honored, with South Carolina carrying the top GPA at 3.767.

 

On the course, the Husker men placed seventh at the conference meet and 10th at the Midwest Regional. The men combined to rank 36th among the teams honored with a GPA of 3.302, as Vanderbilt led the way with a GPA of 3.755.

 

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet.  The team must also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative grade point average.
