Session 1: Husker Relay Teams Set Top-10 Times

Columbia, Mo. - The Husker's 200-medley relay team of C.J. Bray, Hailey Dean, Mariah Hutchinson and Jess Andrews clocked in with a time of 1:41.55, a season-best time and the third-fastest time in school history, at Session 1 of 7 at the Big 12 Championships in Columbia, Mo. Nebraska finished sixth in the event against an ultra-fast field, which saw Texas break the Big 12 record with a time of 1:37.40. However, the Huskers still beat their previous season best by nearly five seconds and swam the fastest time in the event in over 10 years.

NU's 800 Freestyle Relay team of Mariah Hutchinson, Jenny Toler, Caroline Shea and Kelsey Grushecky also broke into the all-time Nebraska top 10 after finishing fifth in the event with a time of 7:22.10. It was the fastest time in that event for the Huskers since 2000 and the seventh-fastest all-time, and bested the team's previous season-best time by over 10 seconds. Texas set another Big 12 record in the event with their first-place time of 6:58.37.

The Huskers are tied for fifth with Iowa State at 54 through two events after the first day of competition in Columbia. Texas leads the standings with 80 points.

The Big 12 Championships hits full stride Thursday morning with five preliminary (10 a.m.) and finals (6 p.m.) races.
