Huskers Finish Eighth at Rice Intercollegiate

Houston, Texas - The Nebraska men's golf team finished the Rice Intercollegiate in eighth place Tuesday at Westwood Golf Club. The Huskers wrapped up the final round of their first spring tournament with a 294 team score for a 54-hole total of 889.

Mike Coatman tied for ninth place, matching his career-best finish and marking his second straight top-10 finish dating back to the fall season. Coatman shot a 219 for the tournament.

Brandon Crick tied for 13th, also matching his season-best finish, which he previously set at the Fairway Club Invitational in September. Crick recorded a season-best 220.

Chris Bruening put together consecutive rounds of 73 to finish tied for 30th at 225. It was Bruening's best finish since he tied for 13th in the spring of 2007.

Andrew Wyatt tied for 49th with a 229, and Scott Willman tied for 54th at 230.

Pacific rallied from 11 strokes back at the start of the day to capture the team title with a score of 874. Ji Hwan Park, of San Francisco, was the individual champion with a score of 210.

The Huskers compete next at the Troy Invitational in Crestview, Fla., Feb. 28-March 1.
