Raber and Powell Pace NU on Big 12 Honor Roll

Lincoln ? Sari Raber and Shay Powell posted perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the fall semester to lead a contingent of 17 Nebraska women’s soccer players on the 2008 Fall Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

Raber, a native of Richmond, British Columbia, and Powell, a junior from Dallas, Texas, posted perfect GPAs as psychology majors.  Raber earned her degree last December during winter commencement ceremonies, after being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII first team for the 2008 season and earning first-team academic All-Big 12 honors the past three seasons. Raber has been on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll nine times.

Powell also earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors last season, as the Huskers led the conference with 15 selections to the academic All-Big 12 teams. Powell has an overall 3.9 GPA and has collected Big 12 Honor Roll accolades every semester of her career.

Senior Selenia Iacchelli earned the honor for the eighth time, while juniors Carly Peetz and Anna Caniglia have been named to the Big 12 Honor Roll five times.

A total of 324 Nebraska student-athletes earned spots on the 2008 Fall Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, including 38 Huskers who posted perfect 4.0 grade-point averages. In order to earn a spot on the honor roll, a student-athlete must post a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the semester.
