Huskers Face Two Non-Conference Challenges
The Nebraska women’s tennis team has a pair of home non-conference matches on the slate for this weekend, as it will play Wyoming on Friday, Feb. 6, and Drake on Sunday, Feb. 8. The Huskers, who have swept 11 straight non-conference home duals dating back to last season, will look to extend their impressive streak this weekend.
Nebraska defeated Creighton 7-0 to open up the spring season last weekend. The Huskers made it a perfect 23-0 all-time against Creighton with the win.
The two matches this weekend are part of an eight-match homestand to begin the season for Nebraska, ending on March 1 with the team’s first Big 12 Conference match against IowaState. Overall, the Huskers play 10 of their first 11 matches in the friendly confines of the NebraskaTennisCenter.
Scouting the Cowgirls
First-year head coach Kati Gyulai leads her Cowgirl squad into Lincoln for her first-ever match with Wyoming. The Cowgirls are led by senior Jamie Nelson, who has been one of the team’s top players since her freshman season.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Drake has struggled out of the gates so far this season, losing its first four matches as it heads into Lincoln. The Bulldogs have had a tough early schedule, as Nebraska will be the fourth Big 12 opponent that they will face this season, as they have already played Iowa State, Kansas State and Kansas.
