U.S. National Team Coach Headlines Volleyball Coaches Clinic

Lincoln -- U.S. Women’s National Team Coach Hugh McCutcheon will headline a star-studded lineup of coaches taking part in the 2009 Nebraska Volleyball Coaches Clinic next month.

The clinic takes place March 27-28th at the Nebraska Coliseum and registration is $100 per person. For information on how to register, contact the NU Volleyball Office at (402) 472-2399.

McCutcheon, who led the U.S Men’s National Team to a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, was named the head coach of the U.S. Women’s team in December of 2008. During his four years with the men’s program, he posted a 107-33 record as Team USA ranked second in the current FIVB World Ranking, its highest ranking ever. In 2008, the U.S. team won gold medals at the NORCECA Men's Continental Olympic Qualifier to advance to the Olympics, and then followed up with its first-ever FIVB World League championship in July of 2008, setting the stage for a gold medal run in Beijing.

In addition to McCutcheon, former UCLA softball coach Sue Enquist will speak at the two-day clinic. Enquist, who coached at UCLA for 27 years, guided the Bruins to an 887-175-1 record with 11 national titles before retiring in 2006. Other clinic presenters include state championship coaches Jake Moore (Lincoln Pius X) and Gwen Egbert (Papillion-LaVista South) and the Husker volleyball coaching staff.
