Irvine, Calif. - The Nebraska swimming team took first place at the seven-team UC Irvine/Ayres Relay Invitational on Saturday morning in its Holiday Training Trip competition. The Huskers won seven out of the 10 relays on their way to 423 team points, beating second-place San Jose State by 23 points. NU set meet records in the 200 free relay (1:36.16) and the 400 free relay (3:29.62).
The Nebraska divers were also in action over the school’s holiday break, taking part in the Tennessee Diving Invitational in Knoxville. Courtney Jolly took 11th place in the three meter dive with a score of 247.75, while she just missed making the finals of the one meter dive, as she finished 14th in the prelims with a score of 242.10. Emily Burbach came in 39th in the one meter with a score of 198.80 and 17th in the three meter with a score of 248.50. Nearly 100 divers competed in the Invitational over the weekend.
The Huskers’ next regular season competition will come on Jan. 17, as the team will host its first home dual against Big 12 foe Kansas, set to begin at 2 p.m.
