Huskers in the NFL - Week 15

Lincoln - A total of 23 former Huskers saw action in NFL games in week 15. Former Huskers Josh Bullocks and Stewart Bradley each recorded their first interception of the year, while Barrett Ruud set a new single-game career best in tackles.

In Chicago, four former Huskers met in an overtime thriller that saw the Bears escape 27-24. Scott Shanle, Bullocks and Carl Nicks suited up for the Saints while Mike Brown lined up for the Bears. Bullocks and Brown each had an interception, Brown’s second of the year. Shanle had six total tackles, including five solo, while adding a pass deflection. Nicks’ helped pave the way for the Saints to rush for 119 yards, with quarterback Drew Brees adding 226 yards through the air.

Former Huskers Bradley and Correll Buckhalter were instrumental in Philadelphia’s 30-10 win over Cleveland on Monday Night Football. Bradley and the rest of the Eagles’ defensive held the Browns to 196 total yards, including 56 yards on the ground. Bradley led the defense in tackles with six, all solo. Even though Brian Westbrook had 10 more carries then Buckhalter, the former Big Red running back led the Eagles in rushing with 55 yards on six carries, an average of 9.2 yards per carry.

Ruud’s team-high 14 tackles were not enough in Atlanta, as the Bucs fell to the Falcons 13-10. The 14 stops set a new career best for Ruud, topping his previous best of 13. Ruud sits No. 6 in the NFL in total tackles with 117, just five away from No. 2 tackler Jon Beason, who has totalled 122 for Carolina. The loss now leaves the Bucs and Falcons tied with a record of 9-5, but Tampa Bay still holds the tie breaker for the final playoff spot in the NFC as they have a better record in conference.
