No. 10 Huskers Ready for Intrasquad Meet

Lincoln - The No. 10 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team begins preparations for the 2009 season with its annual intrasquad meet at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. The two-day event is open free of charge to the public.

The Huskers will compete on still rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar on Friday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center practice facility, before continuing with floor exercise and pommel horse on Saturday in the Sports Center arena. Following the men’s competition on Saturday, the No. 13 NU women’s team will hold its annual intrasquad at 6 p.m.

Nebraska returns 13 letterwinners, including All-American T.J. Schmidt and NCAA individual event qualifiers Tony Maras (vault) and Anthony Ingrelli (still rings).

NU opens the 2009 season on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. The competition, which features No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 13 Air Force, is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
